Program: The Federal Building and Post Office located in Fargo, North Dakota, is situated on a full city block in downtown Fargo. Constructed in 1969, the four-story building contains Post Office facilities and main lobby on the first floor, office space on the second through fourth floors, and a basement. Additionally, the building contains a mechanical penthouse above the fourth floor. The area of the building is 227,525 gross square feet.
The renovations to this building included an extensive electrical overhaul, asbestos abatement, and lobby interior renovation/design. The first-floor main entry lobby serves as the primary entrance to the office spaces on floors two through four via the passenger elevators, and the renovation included an art program to provide a higher profile for this important public building.
There are no plans to increase the building size. The primary anticipated renovations that will occur in the next ten years will be the reconfiguration of office areas and spaces on the second through fourth floors to accommodate the space needs of various governmental agencies.
