Program: Working closely with the Colorado Historical Society, the firm first developed a feasibility study to determine a list of priorities for restoration of the interior of this 18,000 sf architecturally significant mansion located adjacent to the Governor’s Mansion in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver. The program called for providing spaces for special events, meetings, interpretation areas, and offices.
Original finish materials were restored or replaced. The second floor was finished into an art gallery and meeting rooms.
The basement ballroom and restrooms were completely renovated to accommodate the disabled. The bowling alley was converted into a long gallery for art exhibitors. A little used closet was recaptured for installation of an elevator.
New heating and air conditioning was provided, and fire exiting was improved to meet code.
